The last day!
We went to see the head of Office of Legal Affairs in the Secretariat Building for an official farewell and also photo session. I was lucky for being appointed as the representative of the fellows to deliver a vote of thanks in English while another friend was supposed to be the representative for French. It was to be a great opportunity and I tried my best in order not to let my fellows down. It seemed to me that it was not so bad at all.
I ended my speech "I hope we can return to our country with better knowledge and better understanding and we can do something good, not just for our countries but also for the world if I may say"

Paper completed and Presentation
No matter how often I have presented papers in seminars and conferences, I could never present without preparation and even practices. The Annual Research Seminar in Australia awarded the predicate of the best presenter to me in 2005, but to me, presenting without preparation and practice is a mistake. I did enough practices before presenting and it seemed that the practice was fruitful. I presented the research well and it seemed that everybody well received what I wanted to convey.
Mr Rajan, being the expert in this field, gave good comments and suggestion. He also helped me dealing with questions from other fellows. I was happy with the result in general and my presentation seemed to be quite interesting as I used many interesting and yet effective animation.

Toward the end of the Fellowship
My days in New York will finish soon. This is the time for me to finish my work as a UN-Nippon Fellow by completing my research paper. It seems to me that Francois, the program adviser, is happy with what I have done so far and the paper is now in its finalizing stage.
I have completed almost all correction based on final comment made by Francois and will be ready with the paper this week, I believe. My next big moment will be the presentation.

Sovereignty dispute between Malaysia and Singapore
Opinion and Editorial in - December 06, 2007
I Made Andi Arsana, New York City
Last month, Malaysia and Singapore went to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) over a case of sovereignty. Pulau Batu Puteh (or Pedra Branca to Singapore), Royal Rocks and South Ledge are the three features in dispute.
After a long disagreement, the two neighboring states decided to bring the case to the ICJ in the Hague, the Netherlands. The public hearing took place last month, where each party delivered their arguments. The case has not yet been decided but the judgment is expected to be final in six months.
