Research Disemination

Conducting good research with good results is not the end on a journey in academic life. Disseminating the results to more and more people is even more important. Good research which ends safely in a report book and kept neatly in a bookshelf with nobody reading it has not yet achieved its goal to enlighten people.

Therefore, result of a research, no matter how simple it is, should be disseminated. This is the reason of my presentation in the lecture meeting forum at the Department of Geodetic Engnineering, Gadjah Mada University in Indonesia. I was given a ten-minute opportunity to present my research that was conducted in the University of Wollongong, Australia and in the United Nations Office in New York in 2007.

The presentation was similar to what I presented in DOALOS last December, which covered the principle of Extended Continental Shelf and the case of Indonesia. The Audiences were quite interested, even though not all of them really understood, considering that the topic does not belong to everybody in the forum. Please see my presentation and full report in the website of UN.

Here are some photos taken during the presentation:

The audiences were lecturers of he Department of Geodetic Engineering, Gadjah Mada University.

A participant (Dr. Trias Aditya) was asking a question concerning the change of coastline and baseline due to environmental issues and its impact to maritime claims.
